Volunteer as an assistant sewing teacher! This is an after school sewing class at Buckman SUN School in SE Portland. It meets once a week for an hour. Buckman is an Arts Focus School, which is evident from the incredible creativity shown by kids who attend the class. For more information please email Wendy Johnson.
NAYA has an ongoing need for donated supplies for their Regalia Making class. If you are interested in helping them with donations, sewing and possibly teaching, they'd love to hear from you.
There are many of these organizations throughout the area. Take the initiative to call a shelter in your community and ask if you can share your time and expertise.
